Our yearlong online courses are full teaching days, taught live, with the calibre of tutors and the same attention as our studio courses in Wood Green. To get a better sense of our online programme, attended the taster of the course you’d be interested in.
Across three evenings in September we are opening one class each night; a real two-hour session on the same platform our students use throughout the year, with one of the artists who teaches on that course. The taster will be a mini class involving the same elements you will receive on the full day course.
Each evening is £15, redeemable in full against your course fees if you go on to join whether you pay by term or for the year.

Developing Your Art Practice
Developing Your Art Practice is a yearlong, online programme for artists who want to give their practice the sustained attention, critical structure and creative community it deserves — but who may be working across media, disciplines or stages of development where a single medium course would not fully serve them.
Led by painter Bob Matthews and sculptor and Royal Scottish Academician Annie Cattrell, the course takes a deliberately broad view of what it means to develop as an artist. It is not a painting course, a sculpture course, or a drawing course. It is a course about the practice of making art: how you generate ideas, how you develop and test them, how you discuss your work with clarity and confidence, and how you build the habits and critical frameworks that sustain a practice over years rather than weeks.
Personalised one-to-one feedback sits alongside group critiques tailored to each participant’s goals.

Painting the Contemporary Figure
Painting the Contemporary Figure is a full-year online course dedicated to portraiture and figurative practice, taught within a supportive community of fellow painters by Melissa Kime and Rachel Mercer.
Students work from the live model and from a wide range of sources beyond life: photographs, film stills, drawings, memory and imagination. Teaching combines personalised one-to-one attention with group discussion and critique.
There is time for sustained work, individual input and shared critique, so that the experience holds the rhythm and seriousness of a day in the studio.

Advanced Painting Personal Projects
Advanced Painting Personal Projects is a full-year, online studio programme for painters who are serious about the development of their work. Led by two painters, Adrian Wiszniewski RSA and Rosanna Dean; the course provides the rigour, critical depth and structured mentorship that most painters can only access through expensive and time-consuming institutional study.
Each Monday is a full working day, 10am to 5pm, spent in genuine, live dialogue with your tutors and your fellow participants. This is not a course of pre-recorded lectures or written feedback at monthly intervals. It is a working day, shared online, with the full presence of two accomplished practising artists who will engage directly and specifically with your work.
Individual one-to-one tutor time and group critique are woven into every session, and the year is structured around the development of a personal project, culminating in an end-of-year group exhibition.
Mondays online, 10am – 5pm, 5 October 2026 to 28 June 2027 · £775 a term, £2,175 a year
One course each evening. We deliberately do not run all three at once — the attention would be split, and the point of the evening is that it is a real class rather than a presentation. You are very welcome to book more than one.

Our Open Day is Sunday, 13 September, 12 – 4pm, at our new studios in Wood Green. No appointment is required on the day. A great many of our online students come to an Open Day first, visit the studios, and choose the online course afterwards; the two are not alternatives.
