Rebecca Salter graduated from Bristol Polytechnic then spent two years as a research student at Kyoto City University of Arts, Japan. While in Japan she was trained in the technique of Japanese woodblock and she combines this interest with her main practice in painting. In 2003 she was artist in residence at the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation in Connecticut, USA and in 2011 had a major solo show at Yale Center for British Art.. She has also featured in numerous international solo and group exhibitions.
She teaches on the MA Visual Art Programme, Camberwell College of Art, University of the Arts, London and in December 2014 she was elected to the Royal Academy of Arts.
