A rare opportunity to spend part of the day with an eminent artist in their working studio.
This unique class starts in the morning at the artist’s studio in Greenwich where he talks about his works in front of his paintings. He will also introduce the students to a body of new works both finished and in progress and set the students a project in relation to this which they can begin back at the School in the afternoon. In the studio Hughie, together with the students, will further explore approaches to painting; ideas and techniques, ending the day with a group crit.

About the Artist
Manchester born and Goldsmith Masters’ graduate Hughie O’Donaghue RA is an artist who uniquely uses both figuration and abstraction to explore the human condition. Developing his ideas from personal experience, history, literature and mythology, Hughie’s talent as a painter manifested itself from an early age, culminating in an artist-in-residence at the Drax power station near Selby in Yorkshire in 1983; almost immediately after his MA graduation in 1982. Since then Hughie has gone on to exhibit his works in numerous solo shows like in the University Gallery, Newcastle in 2013 or in Michael Janssen Gallery, Berlin, Germany University Gallery and Baring Wing, University of Northumbria, Newcastle and public and private collection in 2007.
