London-based artist Guy Allott (b. 1972, Hexham, Northumberland) is celebrated for his multidisciplinary approach, encompassing painting, sculpture, printmaking, and ceramics. A graduate of Central Saint Martins (1999) and the Royal College of Art (2002), Allott’s work intricately weaves themes from science fiction with traditional landscape art, resulting in pieces that are both fantastical and thought-provoking.

In his early career, Allott crafted playful cardboard maquettes of spaceships and surrealistic landscape paintings, coining the term “Landscape Spaceships” to describe these unique creations. By 2009, his focus shifted towards exploring and subverting traditional landscape representations, delving into humanity’s desire to explore and dominate nature. This evolution led to artworks that merge scientific and cultural philosophies, offering critiques of historical societal beliefs while probing contemporary issues.

Allott’s art has been showcased in numerous solo exhibitions, notably:

“I Am A Building,” Mountains, Berlin (2021)

“Experiments,” Grey Area, Paris (2015)

“Aliens,” Grey Area, Paris (2014)

“Robots,” Grey Area, Paris (2013)

“Always the Sun,” Reception, Berlin (2011)

His group exhibitions include:

“Boutique,” Mountains, Berlin (2020)

“Space is the Place,” Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin (2019)

Allott’s works are part of esteemed collections such as the Victoria & Albert Museum, The Royal Society, The British Library, Fidelity, and the UBS Art Collection. In 2003, he received the First Base Award from ACAVA and co-founded Intoart, a charity dedicated to providing artistic education to students with learning disabilities.
