During this term we have had mornings of discussing the group sketchbook; this is a collaborative project and week’s assignment. Each week’s session has started off with a short introductory discussion looking at 1-2 of many different topics/techniques of drawing by looking at corresponding artists and their practices. The topics/techniques of the day range from ‘chain reactions’ to life drawing. The afternoon session will consist of a sustained individual (or collaborative) project reacting/relating to the morning session.
We left the studio periodically to visit some of the local galleries with one long visit per term. This included a visit to Tate Modern and the National Gallery. At the National Gallery we created a collaborative Cityscape and participated in the national Drawing Event.
