It does mean that but it’s bad Latin (it should be ‘animus ad creandum’).

Best wishes, Fiachra

Dear Dr Góráin

My apologises I didn’t mention why I was looking for the right translation.

My colleague Alison Harper and I run a painting school. Alison is a lecturer and professional painter. Our students are a mix of amateur and professional artists. We opened the school to encourage and develop our students in their painting practise. With this in mind I began the search to create an original school motto that would encapsulate the school’s philosophy. I am so grateful for your kind and quick response, I would like to recount the story of how I got this motto and it’s translation on our Facebook page, below is a link to our page that you can use to have a look.

I would like to ask you if you would mind if I credited you and or your department at UCL by name on the page?

Best wishes,

Andrew.

Thank you for telling me the destination, and about your school, which is good to hear about. Feel free to mention your source.

All the best,

Fiachra
