Application for the Young Artist Scholarship 2026-2027

The Young Artist Scholarship 2026–27 recognises painters who demonstrate exceptional commitment, seriousness of purpose, and the potential to develop a sustained and rigorous practice. Open to applicants across both in-studio and online yearlong courses, the scholarship offers a limited number of full and partial fee awards. Selection is made on the strength of the work, the clarity of intent, and the artist’s readiness to engage in focused, critical development over the course of the academic year.

A personal statement (max. 150 words) introducing yourself
Tell us about your art practice (maximum 600 words) Have you been to art school? – note not having been to art school is not a disqualify from apply. We want to know what you have done and are doing at present.

Please provide details of two referees, including: Their full names, their relationship to you, their email addresses and telephone contact number. IF YOU ARE SHORTLISTED, before your interview, we will get in touch with your two referees: Your FIRST REFEREE should be someone who has known your work and practice over a period of time and can speak to its development. Your SECOND REFEREE should be someone who can speak to your character and commitment. Neither referee may be a family member. Please do not ask your referees to contact us proactively; we will reach out to them directly if and when required.
