The “Angels Wear Silver” exhibition by Alison Harper came after Alison’s return from two years of studying and travelling and in India with a Commonwealth Scholarship. Witnessing first hand the land described by the late E.P Thompson as “not an important country, but perhaps the most important country for the future of the world. Here is a country that merit’s no one’s condescension. All the convergent influences of the world run through this society: Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Secular, Stalinist, Liberal, Maoist, Democratic, Socialist, Gandhian. There is not a thought being thought in the west or east which is not active in some Indian mind.” Harper has many extraordinary stories to tell…
