The Painting Personal Projects programme offers artists the opportunity to develop their work in a supportive and nurturing environment. Guided by experienced artists Guy Allott and Joana Galego, participants will benefit from personal tutorials, engaging group discussions, and a collaborative atmosphere. Each class includes one-to-one tutorials with the teaching artist, as well as group critiques and discussions, where participants can reflect on their progress throughout the year.

Designed to empower artists, this programme allows participants to refine their personal projects while receiving mentorship within a nurturing artist collective. The course spans three terms and culminates in a group exhibition, showcasing the artistic growth and achievements of all participants.

About the artist-tutors

Guy Allott

London based Artist Guy Allott was born in the market town of Hexham Northumberland  in 1972, a graduate of Central Saint Martins (1999) and the Royal College of Art (2002), Guy is a versatile artist who works across several disciplines from painting to printmaking to sculpture and woodcuts. As a young painter and sculptor Guy made playful cardboard maquettes of spaceships and paintings of surrealistic landscapes, sometimes combining the two in painted depictions of what he called Landscape Spaceships. By 2009 Guy work was exploring and subverting traditional representations of landscape in relation to man’s desire to explore and control nature; his paintings and sculptures present a fantastical merging of the philosophies of science and culture, offering a critique of historic social beliefs alongside an investigation into the contemporary Read more >>>


Alison Harper
Alison Harper

Alison Harper Artist,  is the Artistic Director and one of the founders of The Essential School of Painting (ESOP). An exceptional multi-talented artist, Alison is a graduate of the prestigious Glasgow School of Art and is known as one of ‘The Glasgow Girls’. 

The holder of multiple awards including the Commonwealth Scholarship, Alison has exhibited widely both in the United Kingdom and abroad.
