Course Description:
This enjoyable and practical online course focuses on drawing and painting animals within a contemporary art practice. Animals, possibly one of the oldest subjects in art, can hold symbolic meaning or reflect our relationship with them in domestic settings. Whether portrayed as symbols of strength, freedom, or spirituality, animals can play a central role or appear as smaller elements in a larger scene.
On this two-day course, artist Melissa Kime will guide you through practical tasks for drawing and painting animals, offering valuable insights on how to approach this subject matter. She will also recommend literature and poetry, including works like Aesop’s Fables and “Little Red Riding Hood,” to help you develop characters and enrich the narratives in your work.
