Course description

Painting Year 1 (PY1): Materials, Methods and Ideas is a practical, hands-on course designed to fill in those gaps in your understanding and practice of painting. Whether you are a beginner with some experience, an intermediate painter, or even a Fine Art graduate looking to further refine your skills, this course offers a comprehensive exploration of painting techniques and materials. Throughout the course, you’ll work and learn the foundational elements of painting—starting with surfaces, from traditional canvas and wood panels to innovative materials like aluminium. About the tutors

Guy Allott

London based Artist Guy Allott, a graduate of Central Saint Martins (1999) and the Royal College of Art (2002), is a versatile artist who works across several disciplines from painting to printmaking to sculpture and woodcuts.

Joana Galego

Joana, born in 1994 in Cascais, a picturesque town nestled between the Sintra mountains and the Atlantic Ocean, in Lisbon district of Portugal, located along the Portuguese Riviera. Joana pursued her academic journey by focusing on Painting at the University of Lisbon.
