COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The Painting Year 2 art class offers a practical course tailored for individuals aiming to enhance their skills and content under the guidance of experienced painters. The primary goal of the course is to give your practice fresh inspiration, encourage experimentation with new techniques and materials, and foster participation in contemporary painting discourse within a supportive art community.
Throughout the course, emphasis is placed on grounding methods and ideas in personal experience. All necessary art materials are provided during the course, except for canvases which can be purchased separately from the school. This course is specifically designed for those with prior experience in painting and is not suitable for beginners.
Whether you are self-taught or have attended art school, many artists in recent years have expressed a desire to paint but lack the technical and/or intellectual support to do so. This course aims to address these needs by equipping participants with the knowledge, practice, and guidance necessary to further develop their painting skills.

As a young painter and sculptor Guy made playful cardboard maquettes of spaceships and paintings of surrealistic landscapes, sometimes combining the two in painted depictions of what he called Landscape Spaceships. By 2009 Guy work was exploring and subverting traditional representations of landscape in relation to man’s desire to explore and control nature; his paintings and sculptures present a fantastical merging of the philosophies of science and culture, offering a critique of historic social beliefs alongside an investigation into the contemporary.
