The Sandy Moffat Scholarship
This scholarship is open to artists and art-students between 20-30 years consists of 50% of the course fee for the new two-year ESOP Advance Painting Course 2021-23 which includes a full time studio and exhibition at the end of the course.

The ESOP Newman Scholarship is a fully or part funded* artist scholarship open to all applicants between the ages of 20-30 years to study at the Essential School of Painting (ESOP). Three young artists will receive a place on one of our one day a week yearlong courses listed below. All start at the beginning of the new academic year on the first week of October 2021 and finish at the end of June or beginning of July 2022 with an End of Year exhibition. Click on each name for more information. Please note registration on the referred to courses is ongoing and it recommended that you consider two or more courses during your application.
How to Apply
To apply to either scholarship please send six images of your work, your CV and a personal statement introducing yourself, your practice as an artist, why you would like to do your selected course and how you believe it will benefit your practice as an artist. Applicants can also send any other information they believe would help in their application. This may include video presentations, details of any galleries, websites or social media sites that represent their work, and, remember to include your contact telephone number.
All applications are to be emailed to admin@theesop.com by or on the 12th of September 2021. Your application will then be presented to a selection panel and if successful you will be shortlisted for in-person interviews. Once you are shortlisted you will need to provide us with two referees/ recommenders who can attest to your commitment to your practice.
All applicants will be notified by email on whether they have been shortlisted; so please ensure your email is one that you use regularly. If you have not received a response to your application by the 10th of September please check your spam/junk box prior to contacting the school. The panel’s decisions are final and not open to appeal.
