Online mentoring at the Essential School of Painting is open to all regardless of geographical location – the only limiting factor being time differential between locations. Our courses are therefore open to both British and International applicants.
Our online mentoring programme is aimed at meeting the specific needs of the participant and they range from professional artists to amateurs. Our mentoring can be addressed at the general development of the artist or project orientated where the participant is looking to achieve a specific goal like an exhibition or preparation of a portfolio. We tailor each session to the specific needs of the participants.
Sessions range from programmes with a minimum of four hours and long sessions with a minimum of 25 hours. Prior to each session you will have spoken to one of our experienced artist-tutors who you can present with your specific needs or have them help you identify areas on which you can work regarding your development as an artist.
The brief for the four different sessions are as follows. Please note the timings indicated are not inclusive of the free orientation hour where you discuss with one of our tutors about your work and what you may be looking for. For ease of clarification all four sessions are colour coded
Yellow: this intensive programme gives you four or more hours of study with the artist. The initial four hours can be broken down to either two 2 hour sessions or taken as a straight four hour session with your mentor. Thereafter you can book one hour sessions or more with a maximum of 5 hours per day with a break for refreshments or lunch.
Red: this short term programme gives you 10 hours or more of study with the artist. The initial 10 hours can be broken down to a minimum of 2 hour per session per day or any combination above that to a maximum of 5 hour per day over two days with a refreshments or lunch break in-between sessions. Thereafter you can book one hour sessions or more to a maximum of 5 hours per day.

Blue: Our medium term mentor programme gives you 15 hours or more of study with the artist. The initial 15 hours can be broken down into one 3 hour session and four two hour session per day or any into combination above that to a maximum of 5 hours per day over 3 days with a refreshment or lunch break in-between each session. Thereafter you can book one hour sessions or more with a maximum of 5 hours per day.
Black: Our long term mentor programme gives you 25 hours or more of study with the artist. The initial 25 hours can be broken down into one 3 hour session and eleven two hour sessions per day or any combination above that to a maximum of 5 hours per day over 5 days with a refreshment or lunch break in-between each session. Thereafter you can book one hour sessions or more with a maximum of 5 hours per day.
