An exhibition of work by recent and present students of The Essential School Of Painting.
Venue
Menier Gallery 51 Southwark Street London SE1 1RU
Through the work of 20 artists/students, the exhibition considered the wide range of concerns being explored by an eclectic mix of painters, sculptors and multi-media artists, enjoying experimenting and searching, bound together by their desire to make art that can move us. We are at a unique point in time when artists have access to a vast range of imagery and influences from different eras and cultures. This broadening of our references can bring a release from the limitations of fashion and fleeting orthodoxies. During the show painting predominated and exemplified the dynamism and diversity of approaches found in contemporary painting, benefiting from an unprecedented choice of modern and traditional materials.
