The Essential School of Painting invites you to our debut Wood Engraving class and Anne Desmet’s first class with us. Join us for a weekend for what promises to be a very interesting class Wood Engraving course with an internationally renowned artist.
A TASTE OF THE CLASS
Brooklyn Bridge New Day by Anne Desmet RA
Students will be asked to bring with them small sketches/photos/images from which to work; pencils, erasers, black drawing pen (basic drawing materials), plus any interesting, unusual papers they may have at home and which they might like to try printing on. These might include things like: gift wrap; map pages; old banknotes; coloured papers; concert/bus tickets etc.; marbled papers; sweet/chocolate wrappers. The only prerequisite is that the paper samples should be smooth, not textured…

♦ ABOUT THE ARTIST ♦
Anne Desmet RA is an established artist who specializes in wood engravings, linocuts and mixed media collages. She has had three major museum retrospectives to date, received over 30 international awards, and her work is in museum collections and publications worldwide. She was elected a member of London’s Royal Academy of Arts in May 2011. For 15 years she was editor of Printmaking Today Magazine and is the author/editor of three printmaking books.
