This July 25th and 26th Alison Harper held an exhibition of her recent and past work. Alison is the Artistic Director of the Essential School of Painting and is known as one of the Glasgow Girls. Her works appear in numerous public and private collections and exhibitions including The National Portrait gallery, the Royal Academy, Royal Scottish Academy, The Graphic Museum of Tokyo, Boundary Gallery, London. Harper is the recipient of many awards and prizes including the Commonwealth Scholarship. Trained at Glasgow School of Art and lectured in painting and printmaking 1995 – 2002. Alison is the co-founder and Artistic Director of The Essential School of Painting and Co-ordinator for Drawing and Painting at The City lit. She was Art Consultant for the recent BBC series The Big Painting Challenge and co-author of Drawing and Painting published by Thames and Hudson in 2015. She is included in Who’s Who in Art 2006, 2010 and Who’s Who of Women in the World. Alison lives and works in London.
