ABOUT THIS COURSE

WEAVING THREADS OF MEANING

The Victoria and Albert Museum hosts a vast collection of art and artefacts. Each of these embodies ideas and attitudes that reflect their times.

This week’s project encourages study of a particular work or works from this collection. Through research, observation, drawing and painting, we can gain a better understanding of the meanings that lie beneath the works.

The aim of this course is to stimulate conversations both verbally and visually within the group. Questions thrown up will be as rich and varied as the group itself. Work in the studio will be dedicated to the development of ideas, and from these ideas articulate through paint a personal response to a question or questions that arise through your investigation and discourse.

Course Outline:

Day 1                         Study at the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Day 2                         Studio work, discussion, investigation and development of                                responses.

Day 3, 4 & 5               Refinement of ideas through oil on canvas.
