The Poet’s Pub by Sandy Moffat: Oil on Canvas

Course Outline

You will be taught by Alison for the first two days and Sandy on the following two days.

Day one: Will be spent at the National Gallery making drawings and studies from a group of paintings and acquiring a greater knowledge and understanding of these particular masterpieces.

Day two: We will be in the studio where we will have one (two?) models to work from, helping us explore through drawing, elements such as content, composition, tone and colour from the paintings studied during the previous day acting as a stimulus to the imagination.

Days three and four: Will involve gathering together all our material made over the previous two days, looking for connections, ideas and starting points for paintings. We will then spend those two days working on a group of paintings which should lead to the development of the student’s full imaginative potential.

All materials will be provided by the School.
