Henry Ward is a painter. Alongside his practice as an artist he has worked extensively as an educator, spending time as a secondary school teacher of art as well as teaching at universities and art colleges. He has a PhD in ‘Teaching as an Artistic Practice’ and has published widely and lectured internationally on art education. He was shortlisted for the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize in 2018. Ward is the Creative Director of Freelands Foundation, a charity focusing on supporting artists and art education.
In this talk he will describe the development of his work from art school to the current day, investigating a journey from the studio, through post-studio practice and back to working as a painter, as well as speaking about teaching, collaborating with other artists, making films and curating exhibitions.
