Art materials included in your fee with the exception of canvas which you can buy at a discounted rate in studio.
Learn step by step approaches to oil painting. We will cover materials and methods of oil painting essential to getting the first fundamentals of oil painting like supports and surfaces, brushes and paint mediums. Using still life sets up, image, memory etc we will work on colour mixing and ways of constructing images through contrasting tonal values, blocks of colour, line and texture. A lot of emphasis will be placed on the tactile handling of paint.
Course level
This course is suitable for all. Beginners, immediate level and for more experienced artists who haven’t work in oil or who would like to refresh their fundamentals in painting. We restrict the class to 12 students to ensure that each student gets the guidance they need on the path to successful oil painting.

Can I pay for each term one at a time?
Yes. Term payments will remain open so long as places are available.
Can I bring my own art materials?
Yes.
You are most welcome to come along with your own materials to the class.
However we do have some restrictions on the type of solvents you may use in class. Please let the school know what type of solvent you may be using as particular types of solvents may not be suitable for shared studio use especially as other students may have allergies.
Can I join the class online?
No. This is a studio based class.
If I miss a class due to illness or unavoidable incidence can I get extra coaching?
No. We will however do the best we can to bring you up to date with what you have missed
Photo and video
Photographing your own work or general activities in class are allowed, however please ask for permission to video record other student work. Recording the tutor is not permitted.
