This course explores creativity, self-expression, and the endless possibilities inherent in the emotional depth of the figure. Dan Coombs will guide you through an inspiring five-day journey, refining your technical skills while cultivating your personal artistic voice.
Each morning, we’ll work from the model, using these drawings to create collages and studies that will be turned into paintings towards the end of the course. We’ll examine how the body communicates emotions and unconscious thought, and study how single or multiple figures can be arranged to create narratives. Blurring the line between figuration and abstraction, we’ll explore the wide-ranging possibilities for painting inspired by the figure. Every student will be encouraged to follow their intuition, giving form to their unique artistic voice.
