Katherine, a graduate of Cambridge School of Art (2001) and a masters from Camberwell (2003) was elected as a Royal Academician in March this year. Katherine’s election recognises her contribution, amongst other things, as a printmaker and makes her not only one of the youngest elected into this august group of artists but also one of fifteen printmakers of the eighty Royal Academicians. Jones is an artist who works in painting, installation, book arts and printmaking. Her prints are a beautiful mix of collagraph, intaglio, aquatint and block print with translucent gradations of colour that convey atmosphere and light. Her work is becoming recognised for its strong iconography, its depiction of light, its sense of scale, and its sheer technical brilliance.
The recipient and finalist of several awards including being shortlisted for the 2019 Dentons Art Prize, Denton’s Law, London, the 2014 Royal Academy, London Original Print Fair Prize and Printmaking Today Prize, the 2012 Guangdong Museum Purchase Prize, Qijiang, China and seven awards or prizes in 2009 namely the International Print Biennale Solution Group Prize, The London Print Studio Award, Pushing Print Award, East London Printmakers Great Art Prize, Intaglio Printmaker Award, The T N Lawrence and Son Print Prize
